May 3rd, 2005 by PaulComments system wins 2005 award from the New England Associated Press News Editors Association (NEAPNEA)
It’s official! This reader comment system is a custom forum, scaled
way down to be deployed quickly on any story on the site. I added a
photo upload ability and it includes an approval system to avoid spam.
This is a great example of simplifying a process to reap the biggest
reward.

Here’s the detail on the awards:
“MaineToday.com’s reader comments system won for reader engagement. The
reader comments system allows readers of the MaineToday.com web site to
respond to and comment on articles on the site. It is used daily across
the site and is a popular way for MaineToday.com readers to interact on
a daily basis with the news and reviews on the site.
The NEAPNEA contest is a New England-wide contest sponsored by the
Associated Press. MaineToday.com is in the large newspaper category
(over 40,000 daily circ.) along with the Boston Globe, Hartford
Courant, Providence Journal and other major New England papers. The
online prizes were awarded in seven categories.”
