I recently wrapped up a custom web portal for Sheepscot Scale Products. We chose a custom version to accomodate the need for a searchable product database and simplistic site updates for George, the business owner.
Yes Mambo or PHPWebsite can be setup quickly and a full-featured product is delivered at a reasonable cost. But what if the client doesn’t need polls or a forum? A multiple user admin tool can be overwhelming. Yes custom is better in many cases to meet the needs of the business and to build the optimimum user experience.
